An academic's life does not at all just consist of doing research and teaching. We are employed by a University, which is "organizing itself" (curriculum, employment, health and safety, and so much more!), so there are various committees every member must contribute to. These are listed in the following pages (see navigation).
Furthermore one is part of an academic community, which also comes with a lot of work that's done voluntarily by the community. This ranges from reviewing at workshops and conferences up to the organization of workshops, competitions, conferences, and much more. These services are listed here as well.
Lastly, there's also some service to the general public, which is still academic in nature but usually is about promoting education and research opportunities the the broader general public (most notably parents, young adults, but also everybody being interested).
